Our house was also just a few (six, maybe?) blocks from Lake Michigan. One night we all walked down to the beach to enjoy the beautiful sunset.
Greg said that the sunset on the beach just about satisfied his craving for Florida this year...which is a very good thing since we have no plans to go!
This is actually a self timed picture, believe it or not. It was fun to take one of just the two of us. We don't do that very often!
We tried some pictures by the grass and liked this one...except I was holding Elena, not Nora! We were trying to take pictures of just me and Greg, but Elena kept wanting to sit on my lap and get her picture taken. :)
On Saturday afternoon, the ladies shopped in South Haven while the men watched the kids, went swimming, and stayed at the house. No pictures of this day, but all in all it was pretty relaxing.
On Sunday, we had a short church service in the late morning and then lunch. The men had to be up town by 2:00 or something like that for their charter fishing expedition!
Derek fished, but didn't catch anything. Although I've been told that the term 'fished' is used very loosely. Basically, they have all the lines out, and when one of the poles gets a bite, the guide gets it to a certain point and asks, "Who wants this one?" and then coaches the person on how to reel in the fish. So I guess maybe Derek just wasn't aggressive enough or something. :)
Daniel caught a steelhead, which is basically a rainbow trout that lives in a lake, not a river. Also pretty good sized! We didn't get to eat these lovely fish because between Kay and Mom B., the suppers were all planned out for the weekend. Hopefully we'll get together again soon and eat them!
Obviously, Greg had our camera, so I don't have any pictures of our afternoon. The kids napped for a long time, while Mom, Kay, and Steph went back to hit the one street of shops that they didn't get to before. Eventually, the kids woke up and we went to an orchard nearby. We took a horse-drawn wagon ride, played on the playground, and sampled and bought some apples. It was a short visit since we only got there an hour before it closed, but fun nonetheless.
Monday morning, we ate breakfast and packed up our stuff. Max and Elena had fun running around outside playing with sticks. :)
Of course, the last morning is always time for last minute pictures. Here are the three lovely teenage girls we had with us: Jill, Katy, and Sarah.
On the way out, Steph and Elena rode in our van with us. On the way back home, we switched it up and had Sarah ride back with us. Our plan was to stop at Warren Dunes, which she wanted to see. Once we got there, we went down to the beach first.

Max loved playing in this big hole that must have taken someone a long time to dig!

Sarah, always with her camera. :) I'd be interested to know just how many hundreds of pictures she's taken here in the States! :)
And then it was on to the sand dune! Note how far ahead of us all Max is. That didn't last too long once they hit the incline. :)
Greg took the camera and Nora and I stayed behind. Poor Sarah...Max really likes her, and wanted her to carry him. She was a trooper!
Waaaaaay down there, to the left, just before the grass starts...that's me and Nora. And this picture wasn't even taken from the top! That dune was much taller than it seemed.
Last thing here...a little video for you from the beach of Lake Michigan. This is what Max entertained himself with while others played football or enjoyed the sunset:
Such a boy!
We had a fabulous weekend, and would recommend the Ice House to anyone!

You got some beautiful pictures! You've been practicing?
Anyone climb Mt Randall? (It's on the camping side) You haven't climbed a dune if you haven't climbed Mt Randall! We've camped at Warren Dunes a couple times, it's the children's favorite!
